On consid\u00e8re que la temp\u00e9rature au niveau du sol peut y atteindre <span class=\"hps\">50 \u00e0 80 \u00b0C<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">pendant l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">Un<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">centre touristique<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">\u00e0 proximit\u00e9<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">indique l&rsquo;endroit<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">avec un \u00e9norme<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">thermom\u00e8tre<\/span> en <span class=\"hps\">or.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">C\u2019est<\/span> <span class=\"hpsatn\">l&rsquo;<\/span>endroit le plus chaud <span class=\"hps\">de la Chine<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">si ce n&rsquo;est pas<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">du monde<\/span>, comme le <span class=\"hps\">pr\u00e9tend<\/span> une <span class=\"hps\">l\u00e9gende locale<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0.7em 0;\" src=\"http:\/\/earthobservatory.nasa.gov\/Features\/HottestSpot\/images\/flaming_mountains_oh_contraire.jpg\" alt=\"flaming_mountains_oh_contraire.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span class=\"hps\"><span lang=\"FR\">Selon la l\u00e9gende locale<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"FR\">, <span class=\"hps\">la Flaming Mountain est le<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">point le plus chaud<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de la Chine<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">Apr\u00e8s avoir visit\u00e9<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">le site<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">les scientifiques ont utilis\u00e9<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">les donn\u00e9es de la NASA<\/span> dans le but de le prouver <span class=\"hpsatn\">(<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/30789195@N07\/6413042255\/\">Photo 2011<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Le but de Running \u00e9tait de trouver o\u00f9 se situait l\u2019endroit le plus chaud de la Terre. Avec quelques coll\u00e8gues <span class=\"hps\">de l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">du Montana, <\/span>il <span class=\"hps\">fit quelques recherches et<\/span> il <span class=\"hps\">trouva que l&#8217;emplacement le plus chaud du globe d\u00e9pendait de diff\u00e9rentes conditions comme des terres arides, rocheuses et de couleur fonc\u00e9e.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span lang=\"FR\">En<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"FR\"> <span class=\"hps\">juillet<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">1913,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">des observateurs<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">dans<\/span> la <span class=\"hps\">Death Valley, <\/span>en Californie, <span class=\"atn\">ont <\/span>not\u00e9 une temp\u00e9rature de <span class=\"hps\">56,7 \u00b0C<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">et ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">que c\u2019\u00e9tait la<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">temp\u00e9rature la plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">jamais enregistr\u00e9e<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">sur Terre<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">Mais,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">\u00e0 peine neuf<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">ans plus tard<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">le 13 septembre<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">1922,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">une station m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">\u00e0 El<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Azizia<\/span>, en Libye, <span class=\"hps\">a enregistr\u00e9 une temp\u00e9rature<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de 58,0<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">\u00b0C<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">Selon l&rsquo;Organisation<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique mondiale (OMM<\/span>), <span class=\"hps\">cette valeur reste<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">la plus haute temp\u00e9rature<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de l&rsquo;air<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">jamais mesur\u00e9e.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span lang=\"FR\">\u00ab&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"FR\">Pourtant, la plupart <span class=\"hps\">des lieux<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">qui se disent<\/span> \u00ab&nbsp;<span class=\"hps\">le plus chaud<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">sur Terre&nbsp;\u00bb<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">ne sont pas<\/span> de s\u00e9rieux <span class=\"hps\">concurrents <\/span>\u00bb, explique <span class=\"hps\">Running<\/span>. \u00ab&nbsp;<span class=\"hps\">La raison<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">est le site o\u00f9<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">les mesures sont effectu\u00e9es <\/span>et en<span class=\"hps\"> tenant aussi compte de la fa\u00e7on dont<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">la temp\u00e9rature<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">est mesur\u00e9e<\/span>.&nbsp;\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span lang=\"FR\">\u00ab&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"FR\">L&rsquo;Organisation m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique mondiale <span class=\"hps\">a<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">environ<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">11.119<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">stations m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques<\/span> r\u00e9parties <span class=\"hps\">sur<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">la Terre<\/span> pour <span class=\"hps\">recueillir des observations<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de temp\u00e9rature de surface<\/span>\u00bb, note <span class=\"hps\">David<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Mildrexler<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">\u00e9galement membre de l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">du Montana<\/span>. <span class=\"hpsatn\">\u00ab&nbsp;<\/span>Par rapport aux <span class=\"hps\">144,68<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">millions de kilom\u00e8tres carr\u00e9s<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">surface de la Terre<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">cela repr\u00e9sente<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">une station<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">tous les<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">13,012<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">kilom\u00e8tres carr\u00e9s<\/span>.&nbsp;\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span lang=\"FR\">\u00ab&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"FR\">Dans les d\u00e9serts <span class=\"hps\">chauds<\/span>, tels <span class=\"hps\">que le Sahara<\/span>, le Gobi, la <span class=\"hps\">Sonora<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">et le<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Lut, les<\/span>climats <span class=\"hps\">sont<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">rudes et<\/span> leurs acc\u00e8s <span class=\"hps\">si difficile que les mesures<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">en routine<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">et la maintenance<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">d&rsquo;une station m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">ne sont pas possibles,<\/span>&nbsp;\u00bb <span class=\"hps\">a-t-il ajout\u00e9<\/span>. <span class=\"hpsatn\">\u00ab&nbsp;<\/span>La majorit\u00e9 des <span class=\"hps\">sites favorables<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de la Terre<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">n\u2019ont pas de <\/span>mesures<span class=\"hps\"> directes faites par<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">des instruments au sol<\/span>.&nbsp;\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span lang=\"FR\">C&rsquo;est l\u00e0 que<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"FR\"> <span class=\"hps\">les satellites<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">entrent en jeu.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span lang=\"FR\">Pour<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"FR\"> <span class=\"hps\">une douzaine d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">la NASA<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">exploit\u00e9 le<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">spectroradiom\u00e8tre imageur \u00e0 r\u00e9solution<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">mod\u00e9r\u00e9e<\/span> <span class=\"hpsatn\">(<\/span>MODIS) sis <span class=\"hps\">sur deux<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">satellites<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">diff\u00e9rents<\/span>, d&rsquo;abord <span class=\"hps\">sur Terra<\/span> <span class=\"hpsatn\">(<\/span>lanc\u00e9 en <span class=\"hps\">1999)<\/span>, puis sur <span class=\"hps\">Aqua<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">(2002)<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">L&rsquo;instrument<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">dispose de 36<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">bandes spectrales diff\u00e9rentes<\/span> <span class=\"hpsatn\">(<\/span>groupes de <span class=\"hps\">longueurs d&rsquo;onde<\/span>) <span class=\"hps\">et de nombreuses mani\u00e8res<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">voir<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">la plan\u00e8te<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">L&rsquo;une d&rsquo;elles<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">est la d\u00e9tection<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">du rayonnement<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">thermique<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">ou<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">la quantit\u00e9 d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">infrarouge \u00e9mise par<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">la surface terrestre.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">\u00c9tant donn\u00e9 que les<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">deux<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">instruments<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">MODIS<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">balayent toute la surface terrestre<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">chaque jour<\/span>, ils peuvent fournir <span class=\"hps\">une image compl\u00e8te des<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">temp\u00e9ratures<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">au sol et<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">combler les lacunes<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">entre les<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">stations m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span lang=\"FR\">Dans leur analyse<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"FR\">, Running, <span class=\"hps\">Mildrexler<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">et<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Maosheng<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Zhao<\/span> ont <span class=\"hps\">examin\u00e9<\/span> des <span class=\"hps\">mesures<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">mondiales du MODIS<\/span> entre <span class=\"hps\">2003 et 2009<\/span>, en accordant une <span class=\"hps\">attention particuli\u00e8re<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">\u00e0 l&rsquo;endroit o\u00f9<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">les<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">temp\u00e9ratures<\/span> les <span class=\"hps\">plus chaudes<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">peuvent se produire dans des terrains id\u00e9aux<\/span>. <span class=\"hpsatn\">\u00ab&nbsp;<\/span>Pour faire appara\u00eetre le <span class=\"hps\">point le plus chaud<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">sur Terre<\/span>\u00bb, note <span class=\"hps\">Mildrexler<\/span>, <span class=\"hpsatn\">\u00ab&nbsp;<\/span>nous nous sommes concentr\u00e9s <span class=\"hps\">sur les zones<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">arides<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation clairsem\u00e9e<\/span> et les savanes arbustives <span class=\"hps\">ouvertes<\/span>.&nbsp;\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span lang=\"FR\">Cette m\u00e9thode<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"FR\"> les a <span class=\"hps\">amen\u00e9s<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">dans le d\u00e9sert<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de Lut<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">en Iran<\/span>, dans <span class=\"hps\">les<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">bad-lands du<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Queensland, en Australie <\/span>ainsi qu\u2019<span class=\"hps\">\u00e0 la Flaming Mountain en Chine.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span lang=\"FR\">Dans cinq<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"FR\"> <span class=\"hps\">des sept ann\u00e9es<\/span>, 2004, <span class=\"hps\">2005, 2006<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">2007 et<\/span> <span class=\"hpsatn\">2009, <\/span>la plus haute temp\u00e9rature <span class=\"hps\">de surface<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de la Terre<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a \u00e9t\u00e9 trouv\u00e9e dans<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">le d\u00e9sert de Lut<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">Au cours de l\u2019ann\u00e9e<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">2005, le<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">MODIS<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a enregistr\u00e9 une temp\u00e9rature<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de 70,7<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">\u00b0C<\/span> <span class=\"atn\">\u2013 soit <\/span>plus de 12 <span class=\"hps\">\u00b0C<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">que la<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">temp\u00e9rature de l&rsquo;air<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">officiellement enregistr\u00e9e en Libye<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span lang=\"FR\">En 2003<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"FR\">, <span class=\"hps\">les<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">satellites ont enregistr\u00e9<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">une temp\u00e9rature<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de 69,3<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">\u00b0C,<\/span> la deuxi\u00e8me plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e <span class=\"hps\">dans les sept<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">ann\u00e9es<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">d&rsquo;analyse,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">dans les<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">savanes<\/span>du Queensland. <span class=\"hps\">Et<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">en 2008<\/span>, dans <span class=\"hps\">la Flaming<\/span> Mountain, <span class=\"hps\">\u00e0 proximit\u00e9 du bassin de<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Turpan,<\/span> on a <span class=\"hps\">obtenu<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">une temp\u00e9rature maximale<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">annuelle<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">de 66,8<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">\u00b0C<\/span> <span
